Hope

A broken heart is not a toy

Not to be played around with.

It needs your love and care

Like a new born child.

Be gentle and be kind

Let love fill the hole.

Heal and mend it will

Of its own accord.

About the painting – Hope is a Symbolist oil painting by George Frederic Watts, two versions of which were completed in 1886. The painting was intended to form part of a series of allegorical paintings by Watts entitled the “House of Life”.
